Laura & Mark | A Sweet Rustic Wedding in Early Summer

We first met Laura and Mark back in September 2023 when they scheduled a tour of our beautiful barn. Their tour guide described them as a fun couple and "you can truly tell how much they love each other which is inspiring to see". They decided in November that the rustic barn was the perfect backdrop for their special day, and we were honored to host them for their June date!

June 2025 came around quickly, and their wedding day was here! As New Englanders, you can never predict the weather. It is a blessing and a curse. You could be surprised by an unusually chilly day or be blessed with weather that makes you jump for joy. Laura and Mark were given the perfect summer day for their wedding. The greenery was in full bloom, and the birds were singing. Our grounds team continues to do a wonderful job maintaining the property and providing our wedding couples with a beautiful background for their special day. With 240 acres of property, we have endless opportunities for photos. Our favorite spots being the wood bridge which is our iconic first look location and the pond that is typically our background for sunset photos.

The day was full of small details that made lasting impression for all! Our sweetest memory is Ben, Mark's son, who was his best man. We have seen a lot of best men come through the barn... he may be the best one yet! Both Mark's kids were included in the wedding party and the celebration of creating a wonderful family was so special.

Another stand out moment was Laura & Mark's first look. The intimate moment shared between the two of them was so beautiful. Set on our wooden bridge overlooking the marsh, both emotional at the sight of each other. The excitement of the reality that the day is here and they were about to be wed. You could feel it.

The day's event coordinator gave Laura a private tour of her reception and ceremony space before the guests arrived. To be able to enjoy the space you have been planning for over a year before everyone arrives is a touching moment. A bonus opportunity for Laura as she chose our Putnam Room has her getting ready space allowing her to be steps away from the Barn.

The wedding day in Laura & Mark's own words:

"We had an amazing experience with the Barn at Blackstone National! Kate was our coordinator, and she was super helpful throughout the entire planning process. She was quick to answer any questions we had and very detailed in her responses. She was also understanding and flexible with changes we needed to make leading up to the big day. On the day of the wedding, the barn team did an incredible job setting up all of our decor exactly the way I had envisioned it and working seamlessly with all of our vendors. I had a private reveal before everyone else arrived, and it was truly everything I could have asked for! We also received many compliments on the food, and the barn team was very prompt with every part of our timeline, including serving dinner. The venue was the perfect size for a100 person wedding, with two bars and plenty of space to spread out both indoors and outdoors, so there was never a long line to get a drink. Kate also included multiple little touches that didn't go unnoticed, like making us a plate of hors d'oeuvres (we didn't get a chance to have any during cocktail hour), driving us around in a golf cart to take photos, and bringing a towel for my lap to protect my dress from my flowers during the ride. She even gave my 10-year-old stepson some extra chocolate chip cookies, as that was a big part of the wedding that he was looking forward to. Lastly, my bridesmaids and I loved getting ready in the Putnam room, and our hair & makeup artist said she'd rate the space an 11/10. There was so much room for the bridal party to get ready, tons of natural light, and we could even go outside on the patio to take pictures. Everyone at the barn made the day really special and memorable. We had the best day ever and would highly recommend the barn to anyone looking for a wedding or event venue!!"

It was a joyous party for all! We truly did not want the night to end. We wish Laura & Mark every bit of happiness in their future together. They are forever apart of our Barn family, and we are so luckily to be blessed with so many incredible couples who grace our Barn.
